Dianne Lake
Dianne Lake has been photographing for about four years and enjoys trying to find unique views or odd angles of objects and scenes that others may find mundane or ordinary, and showing the beauty of those things through her photographs. She especially enjoys photographing locally and has done series on Pinole, Hercules, Berkeley, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge, but she has also photographed extensively around the country. Her special interest is buildings, ranging from old rundown cottages to historic Victorians to city skyscrapers, but she also like to photograph scenery and unusual objects or details. A member of the Pinole Artisans since August of 2005, she has exhibited with them at the Pinole Farmers Market, Garden of Gems, Swish Christmas Show and the Holiday Gallery. She has also exhibited at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek as part of their Local Voice Exhibit in the fall of 2005. By day, Dianne works as a botanist and has her own consulting business in that field. She does extensive vegetation and plant surveys, and has also developed and maintains a database tracking the locally rare plants of the East Bay for the local chapter of the California Native Plant Society. Despite her love for wildflowers, she does not photograph the very often, preferring to just drink in their beauty alone and devote her photographing hours to finding beauty in stranger and more unusual items and views, as can be seen in some of the accompanying photographs and those on exhibit in the Pinole Artistans Gallery. Dianne also creates note cards from her photographs, some of which are currently available at Captain's Cottage in Pinole. They will also be available at the Farmer's Market here in Pinole. The can also can be purchased directly by email or by phone. Many of Dianne's photographs are also available in smaller sizes ideal for bookshelves, desk or table tops, small wall spaces, or wall groupings. She has also done a series of small photographs of calming and soothing nature scenes for visual sleep therapy. |
