Featured Guest Artist
Each month we will try to feature a different guest artist in our gallery who is not a member of Pinole Artisans. This goes along with our founding principles as a non-profit community organization whose purpose is to promote the arts, provide opportunities to show works locally, support and to provide a forum for Pinole-area artists and artisans.

Pablo J. Victoria
Artist & Art Educator
"A good artist is not static. He grows in art as he matures in age, in education and experience. He is seldom contented after the has finished a piece of work....He tries new approaches, new materials - always experimenting in search for something significant and satisfying for him. In his numerous attempts he encounters pitfalls characterized by decelerated effects on his being, but when he succeeds he feels as if he has conquered a new world." -P J Victoria

Pablo Jacinto Victoria was so blessed to live a life like no other. He was respected and regarded by colleagues as "The Father of Modern Art Education in the Philippines." As full scholar, he graduated "With Highest Honors Award" from the University of the Philippines School of Fine Arts. As Fulbright scholar, he received his master's degree in Applied Arts from Columbia University in NY. He specialized in Art education and toured in Europe and Asia on an Asia Foundation grant, and was specially trained in museum study. He was a renowned Filipino artist using various media and painting styles from realistic to impressionistic focusing on paintings with genre subjects and Biblical parables. His works were exhibited exclusively and received the Zobel First Prize award in Landscape Painting. He had written numerous articles on the values of Art in Education in The Modern Teacher magazine published by In The Grade School, Inc. featuring some of the works of his grandchildren and many art teachers. As a successful art educator and artist, his works were exhibited in several One-man Art Shows, particularly in 1979 when he received the title of "Professor Emeritus" from the University of the East in Manila.
Pablo J. Victoria was born on Jan. 24, 1915 in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines and joined our Creator on Feb. 22, 1986. He was a devoted family man - a loving husband to wife Mercedes; an ideal father to their 4 children - Virgilio, Vinci, Renoir and Roela and their spouses; a doting grandfather to 10 grandchildren and now with 11 great grandchildren he dreamed of but never saw.
