Ludmila Mirkin has been involved in creative arts since a very young age. She works with many forms of expression such as poetry, music and in various visual mediums, some times combining more than one approach is a single piece.
Recently she has been combining poetry with watercolor, creating mixed medium works on paper. Taking this approach further, she then recreates the images in paint on canvas.
Ludmila has also always felt drawn to textile. Perhaps being influenced by her mother, who was a seamstress and soft toy artist, Ludmila explains the appeal of fabric materials as something she understands intuitively and feels closest to. The unassuming nature of textile arts, she contends, is disarming and pulls the viewer in. Since the subject of Ludmila's work often explores human nature, this quality facilitates self exploration and reflection on the part of her audience.
Ludmila has also done works of art that are on display in the City Hall of Pinole.
