March 3rd 2017
Mimi Wirth will be talking about stained glass with a powerpoint and/or a demo.
Mimi was born in Albany, California and began painting in oils at the age of nine. She earned her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She taught art on all educational levels from special invitational classes for children, the high school level and numerous workshops for adults in watercolor, stained glass and oil painting. She was invited to teach etching in Japan as a goodwill ambassador. Mimi’s talent was recognized by many art teaching awards including Southern California Teacher of the Year and Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year. Her varied career has also encompassed commercial illustration and package design including work for Pink Panther, Popeye and Elvis Presley Products.
Mimi has studied with the talents of Anne Manry Kenyon, Gregg Kreutz, Milt Kobaysahi, Frederick Grue, Jan Saether, David Leffel, and Howard Terpning. Her special training in old master’s painting techniques, use of the Maroger medium and impressionistic approach to her oil paintings is expressed in rich colors, fine realism and a varied distinct style. This oil painting interpretation and concentrated skill is truly unique. Each painting is beautifully expressed by her sensitivity to the subject matter. She is particularly interested in painting the American Indian with dignity and respect. Her talents have been widely acclaimed and her work can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world.
